If we could just get a small glimpse of God and what He wants for us, I know we would never think the same way again. Do you remember the Bible story you may have heard as a child in Sunday school, when Elisha had an angry king after him?(from 2 Kings 6:13-16)
Elisha was in his house sleeping and in the early dawn the king showed up with his army and surrounded his house. His servant, looked outside, and freaked out. He woke Elisha, panicked about their imminent massacre. But Elisha was very calm, and wasn’t worried at all. There were more with us than against us. He simply asked that the servant could see what he saw. And then God allowed him to see:
“O LORD, open his eyes so he may see.”
Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.I love this. I can’t see everything, none of us can. I have no idea what is out there. But what a comfort to know that God is out there and He is fighting for us.
He loves us, and He has plans to prosper us, for a life of joy and abundance. It just requires belief in the idea that there is a God, and just like a real father, he will fight for you, he sees you, he knows you, and he loves you. We can see the problems clearly enough, but we have difficulty seeing God and his provision. If we focus just on what we see, we may freak out just a little.
He loves us, no behavior modification needed. He has an eternal life planned for us in his presence. Now what little thing was bothering you today? I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.” (Ephesians 1:17-19a.)
